Complete summer mileage in addition to team workouts below for those who want to do their general preparation before the season begins.

Preliminary Cross Country Info:

General Info

  • 12-week season
  • August 4th for an October 25th state meet
  • 6th through 12th grades

Practices

  • 3-day minimum for beginners (9 to 15 miles per week)
  • Monday 4:30 PM to 6:00 PM – Various parks (start at 4:30 PM; Typically end time depends on mileage)
  • Wednesday 7:00 AM to 9:00 AM – Usually at Jan Jennings Park with about 4 late September/October Wednesdays at LCU (track days may have altered times, 8:00 AM to 9:30 AM, perhaps based on LCU availability)
  • Friday 7:00 AM to 8:00 A,M Usually at Frank Higinbotham Park
  • Athletes who have worked up to 20 or more miles per week over the summer will need to run 4 to 6 days per week.
  • 4-day minimum for varsity athletes (20 or more miles a week)
  • Hill Camp, summer mileage, and state meet are preferred for varsity athletes
  • Please check with Coach Melissa regarding additional varsity practice schedule.

Important Dates

Hill Camp – Glen Rose, TX @ Glen Lake Methodist Camp

  • Tentatively October 25

Cost

  • $200/athlete before 8/8 (includes uniform, meet entries, travel events, etc)

Tentative Meet Schedule (Usually 7 AM to Noon)

  • September 6 – Amarillo 
  • September 13 – LCU 
  • September 26 – Mae Simmons
  • October 4 – LCU
  • Typically late October 2025 Texas Homeschool State Cross Country Championship for all athletes grades 6th and up (no qualifying standard)
